Welcome .......... Samuel Lam

Proclamation .......... Psalm 138 .......... Congregation

1 I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; before the “gods” I will sing your praise.
2 I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name
for your unfailing love and your faithfulness,
for you have so exalted your solemn decree that it surpasses your fame.
3 When I called, you answered me; you greatly emboldened me.

4 May all the kings of the earth praise you, Lord,
when they hear what you have decreed.
5 May they sing of the ways of the Lord, for the glory of the Lord is great.

6 Though the Lord is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly;
though lofty, he sees them from afar.
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life.
You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes;
with your right hand you save me.
8 The Lord will vindicate me; your love, Lord, endures forever—
do not abandon the works of your hands.

Scripture Reading .......... Mark 11:1-19 .......... Jayden Yuen

1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 3 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’”
4 They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it, 5 some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?” 6 They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. 7 When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. 8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. 9 Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted,
“Hosanna!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
10 “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!”
“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the temple courts. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.

12 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. 14 Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it.

15 On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, 16 and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. 17 And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’”
18 The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.
19 When evening came, Jesus and his disciples went out of the city.

Communion .......... Remembrance .......... Congregation

Oh how could it be
That my God would welcome me
Into this mystery
Say take this bread, take this wine
Now the simple made divine
For any to receive
By mercy, we come to your table
By your grace, you are making us faithful

Chorus:
Lord, we remember you
And remembrance leads us to worship
And as we worship you
Our worship leads to communion
We respond to your invitation
We remember you

Prayer .......... Deacon Paul Yip

See his body, his blood
Know that he has overcome
Every trial we will face
None too lost to be saved
None too broken or ashamed
All are welcome in this place
By mercy, we come to your table
By your grace, you are making us faithful

Dying, You destroyed our death
Rising, You restored our life
Lord Jesus, come in glory
Lord Jesus, come in glory
Lord Jesus, come in glory
Lord Jesus, come in glory

Psalm 62:5-8
Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.
6 Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
7 My salvation and my honor depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
8 Trust in him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

Psalm 62 starts with a similar proclamation as the verses just quoted:
1-2 Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

Sometimes we need to put effort in truly live in the conviction that we find rest in God, we have to exercise our faith and remind ourselves of the truth. By repeating and addressing “my soul” one is reminding oneself how steadfast our God is. And because of God’s faithfulness we can come to Him in prayer!

Let us pray for the world and HK:
  • Pray for missionaries in different countries. May God protect them and use them.
  • Pray for governments and those in authority to govern in wisdom in these unsettling times. Different countries are facing different challenges, may God have mercy.
  • Pray for brothers and sisters studying and working abroad.
Let us pray for the English Ministry:
  • Thankful for the retreat of the English Ministry, encouraging brothers and sisters to cast their worries to the Lord and grow in faith. May all continue this practice to be attentive to God’s presence in life.
  • May the upcoming course “God loves you but what is Love” be a blessing to our congregation.
  • In celebrating 120th anniversary of HKBC, we have plans to share about the church’s history in the services. May our congregation be encouraged hearing how God has worked in the history of church.
  • Approaching Good Friday and Easter, may we learn to remember Jesus’ suffering and live a resurrection life. On Friday 2 April we will have a Good Friday Service, pray for the preparation. Also for our Easter Sunday, may we celebrate the Resurrection Power of the Lord joyfully.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. (Psalm 18:2)
